Formula to calculate property tax

For residential area

Property Tax = Collector Rate of Property + Construction Cost (₹500/ sq. ft) – Depreciation (10% of construction cost).

5 percent of the total cost is taken as the annual cost and 0.5 percent tax is charged on the annual cost.

For vacant land 

The annual cost would be taken which is the 5% of the collector rate of the vacant plot and 0.5% of tax is charged as the annual cost for vacant plots worth an area between 100-500 square yards.

The vacant plot includes residential, commercial, organizational, industrial, or unproductive lands.

For rented property

7.5 percent of the annual tax would be imposed on residential rental property and 10 percent for rented commercial, industrial, and organizational properties.

Taxable properties in Punjab are divided into four kinds. It helps the government to enable tax based on certain criteria. These are the categories:

Who is exempted from property tax in Punjab?

Annual Property Tax Rates

For properties that come under Category B, Rs. 2-4 is charged.
